Free Medicaid - Covered Birth & Postpartum Doula Services in Washington

Who Qualifies for Free Doula Services?

It’s official! As of March 20, 2025, I am now eligible to provide Medicaid-covered birth and postpartum doula services to families in the Seattle area. This is such an exciting milestone. It means more families can now access the compassionate and evidence-based care I offer, with Apple Health (Medicaid) covering the cost.

If you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, or navigating your birth journey and you have Apple Health (Medicaid), you may qualify for free doula services through Rosula Doula. Whether you’re looking for birth support, postpartum care, newborn guidance, or simply a gentle presence - you don’t have to go through it alone. This is your invitation to receive the care you deserve.

What Does Medicaid Consider Doula Support?

“Birth doulas are trained nonclinical professionals who provide emotional, physical, psychosocial, and informational support to pregnant, birthing, post-pregnant people, and their families. Evidence supports doulas improving outcomes across a range of metrics for this population, including infants, and a larger positive impact for Black, Indigenous, and other people of color. There has long been support in Washington for increasing access to doulas, especially for people on Apple Health.” - Washington State Health Care Administration

Still Eligible Even If You’re Already in Labor or Postpartum

If you’re pregnant, in labor, or newly postpartum, you still qualify for birth doula support through Washington State Medicaid - even if you didn’t connect with a doula during pregnancy. Clients remain eligible for Medicaid-covered doula services as long as they’re within the approved care window: prenatal, labor, or postpartum. This means you can start receiving professional birth support at any point, whether it’s early pregnancy, during active labor, or after your baby is born.

As your doula, I’m here to meet you where you are - with trauma-informed, compassionate, and personalized care whenever you need it most.
